Baer Reintegration Scholarship FAQ #8, #9, #10
The Baer Reintegration Scholarship is available for download for the 2017-2018 academic year! Each week leading up to the due date, our blog will post a frequently asked question and answer. As always, feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. All correspondence related to the scholarship program is done via email.
FAQ #8: I am confused how to send in my reference forms. Do they need to arrive with my application packet?
A: This depends if you are mailing your application or emailing your application. If you are mailing your application; everything should arrive together in one envelope. Your references can either mail you your form and you include the unopened envelope in with your application materials, or they can hand deliver it to you in an envelope in which they have signed their name over the seal, to ensure the envelope has remained closed. Be sure to give your references enough time to fill out the application and mail it back to you, so that you can meet the scholarship deadline.
If you are emailing your application; your reference is instructed to fill out their form, scan it, and send it as an attachment to email@example.com. You will send in your application separately via email as one attachment with all of your materials included, with the exception of the references.
FAQ #9: My therapist or counselor knows me much better than my psychiatrist. Can they fill out my reference form instead of my doctor?
A: No. The first recommendation form MUST be filled out by your psychiatrist or prescribing authority. If you like, you can have your therapist or counselor fill out a general recommendation form for you. On rare occasions, a therapist or counselor has filled out the first recommendation form; but only as a supplement to the same form also being completed by the applicant's psychiatrist.
FAQ #10: Can I give in extra recommendation forms?
A: Yes. On some occasions, applicants have sent in extra recommendation forms; however it is not required and we do recommend three. If a reference wants to write a letter to accompany the form, we allow that as well; but be sure they fill out the form along with writing the letter!
